Hi everyone,
First of all, very impressive site, I really loved watching all the dancing vidoes. I am orginally from a small town in Nortern Saskatchewan and growing up we prided ourselves in our metis culture. I used to dance/teach/compete in the red river jig as well I taught old tyme dance lessons and square dances such as heel toe polka, drops of Brandy, shawtece, etc. I would really like to get back into dancing or teaching. About 8 years ago I broke my foot and have not danced much since due to the lingering aches and pains. I also have 3 children 2 of which are of Metis Descent but I would like for all of my children to learn about their ancestory and be involved in the Metis Culture in Ontario especally since I have no family in Ontario. If anyone can help me with this request, we would really appreciate it. Please email me at trinalavallee_1978@hotmail.com

A couple weeks ago I decided to experiment with making pemmican, the staple of the voyageur and first nations diet. To be accurate I wanted to use bison meat and had no idea where to get it. I came across Startek Buffalo Farms 2011 Shirley Rd. Port Perry. As well as meat they get hides, robes, and sculls from time to time. (Would love a pair of mocs made from the hump leather.) The pemmican is now 3 to 4 weeks old and without refrigeration, still looks good. I'm going to eat some tonight so wish me luck.

Greetings! I'm suprised no one has mentioned this years Oshawa festival, so I guess I'll start. It was great. My wife and I totally enjoyed ourselves. We dropped a few bucks with some of the amazing vendors, shook hands and had a wonderful time visiting with our fellow Metis citizens. I plan to get more involved as time goes on and one way might be for us all to share our thoughts and news on this site. It's really under used. Regards: Ted (the Stickman)McNally

I attended the drum making session conducted by Archie last Saturday with my sister, Wendy. Met lots of people (hi Rob!) We both loved it and had a great time. We learned a lot about the drum, what it symbolizes and the spirituality it holds. Thank you for such an opportunity.
