The Métis Nation of Ontario (MNO) is pleased to announce the expansion of their literacy programs into the Durham Region. It is the goal of the MNO to bring Métis families and communities together, in recognition of the importance of literacy and in an effort to increase Métis awareness and literacy levels.
Our homework clubs will provide one-on-one tutoring on a weekly basis to students in grade K-8 who need extra help with their schoolwork. As well, our Métis families learning together reading circles are run monthly, and we invite parents and their children between the ages of 0-12 to join us for story-telling, and other fun activities.
The MNO is seeking interested families, community volunteers, and youth to participate and contribute to the overall success of our programs.
If you, or anyone you know may be interested in our literacy programming, please contact Kelly Honsberger, Literacy Coordinator by phone 1-888-466-6684 or by email .
